Kanna - Masao Miyamoto: Horyu - "Jeweled Dragon"

Go back to the Kanna Gallery main page.

Masao Miyamoto is a famous blacksmith from Miki city. The Horyu is his most well known work. The number inscribed on the Horyu is the patent number for the method of embedding hardened steel to the areas where the blade is usually struck with a hammer. Apparently, many carpenters had requested Miyamoto-san to remove the patent number since it takes away the Horyu's sex appeal B-). Miyamoto-san also produces Tensho ("Soaring Heaven") which is identical to the Horyu.

Thanks go to Tomohito Iida for providing some of the information.
