Hideo Ishido passed away on 2006/10/16. Click here for Edocraft's interesting interview with Ishido.
According to http://www.japantool-iida.com/, "Mr. Hideo Ishido reproduced the plane that was originally produced by Shuichi, the second-generation of Ishido family craftsmen. The work is curved with a "Yabane-moyo" (pattern of an arrow-feather) that is the family tradition, and also has an elegant finishing of the blade backside, which is in black."
